Because, It allows you to stay updated on any topic of your liking and instantly receive emails on that topic. If a new article appears on the New York times, or any of the main news sources, you can receive automatic notification of it, as soon as Google News finds them.
Let’s say you are witting about the recent fall of the Minnesota Bridge, or just want to read as much as you can about it. Then, you can set the Google alert to send you an e-mail as soon as any of the news sites posts an article containing the words about the topic. Now that is very powerful!
Signing up for the service, is free and it is very easy. You simply enter the words you want Google to search for, how often you want the alerts, and your email address.
