I have been using Firefox, for the longest time now, that I cannot even remember when I first started using it. Firefox standalone is powerful, but when you start exploring with the add-ons and extensions, Firefox just becomes quite simply the best browser out there.
Here are some of the extensions, in no particular order that I find useful, keep in mind there a ton more useful Firefox extensions out there.
Adblock Plus
|
This add-on blocks just about every advertisement out there. If you still want to see adds for a particular website, you can enable it on the individual pages. I run this to protect myself from accidently clicking on my own ads on my websites. A very hand Firefox extension for every user. |
Answers

Whenever you are reading an article, and you are unsure what the word means, then all you simply to do is hold down the alt button on your keyboard, and click the word, and automatically a box will appear with the answer to the definition of the word! It saves you time. |
ColorZilla
|
A tool that webmasters, graphic designers, and others can use to select colors on websites. Basically, it is an eyedropper tool that can be used on any website!
It comes very handy to me as a webmaster, with the eyedropper tool; I can use it to get the hexadecimal number of any particular spot of an image that I want! The neat thing about this tool is that it gives the full details, Hex number, and RGB numbers, everything you can possibly need to utilize the color you wanted! |
DownThemAll
|
This was the first ever Firefox extension that I used. It has been out for the longest time, and has only improved over time. It is a download manager program for Firefox. But the biggest thing that it does is, it lets you easily download all the files on any given websites, in just a few seconds.
Let’s say that a website contains 100 links to zip files, for you to download. Imagine how much time that would take for you to individually select every link to download. That’s painstaking! Imagine if there are 100 images on the website, and you want to download them all to your hard drive, that’s pain staking too! But with DownThemAll, all you do is just set some simple options, or ‘filters’. So in your case we would filter to only .zip or images, and with one magical click, DownThemAll will download it all for you automatically! |
HTML Validator
|
Html Validator validates websites as you visit them. A super useful tool for webmasters who need to know whether there are any errors in their code. It also provides a feature that suggests how to automatically clean up the page to match the html coding standards. |
MeasureIT
|
A tool that will let you draw out and measure the width and height of whatever you want on a website! If you want to measure how big a banner is on a website, or how much space to allocate for coding, you can do it in a simple snap of the ruler!
It is powerful, because you will save time from having to guess in the code, how much space to allocate for a website element. |
Search Status
|
A simple tool, that takes up very little space. It displays the PageRank, Alexa rank and Compete ranking anywhere in your browser, along with fast keyword density analyzer, keyword/nofollow highlighting, backward/related links, Alexa info and more. |
SnapLinks
|
A tool that allows you to highlight the links that you want to be opened in a new tab. This saves you the time from having to open individual links by themselves. So you can easily highlight as many links as you want to have opened! I have even used it top open 100 links once, but off course the load on that is pretty heavy, hehe. |
SeoQuake
|
Seoquake is an extension mainly designed for webmasters, who work with search engine optimization. Seoquake provides relevant information such as Alexa Ranking, Page Rank, Who is, and countless other information that webmasters looking to improve their website traffic need to know. My only gripe with the SeoQuake is that with the recent update, there is a new feature called AdSpy. Basically AdSpy crawls websites looking at their Google Adsense ID. AdSpy gathers the information and then collects data regarding that Id. So in essence…. if you visit a website, and that website as Google adsense ads, you can find out what other websites has the same Google adsense ID. So there could be some hidden invasion of privacy going on….. I will likely be moving away from SeoQuake as soon as I find a better alternative. |
View Source Chart
|
Draws A Color-Coded Chart of a Web Page’s Source Code. A very useful tool that will turn unorganized source codes, into easy to read blocks of colored code! |
Web Developer
|
Web Developer is a toolbar that is filled with various web developer tools.
Examples of useful tools, Window Resizing, css tools, form tools, and countless others! I am sure there is at least one useful feature that every webmaster will enjoy. The only downside to the tool is that it takes up another “toolbar” space in your Firefox browser. |
I’ve outlined the extensions, that I am using, now its your turn! I want some feedback, to create an even better list, that future readers of this post will find useful to them. So my question, what are some of your favorite Firefox extensions, and why?
Hosting fees can rack up pretty easily, especially if you own several domains. I myself own several domain names (at least 100 by now), more than most would probably own. There are some domain hosts, that offer individual hosting. Meaning you pay x amount for 1 domain to be hosted. If that were the case for me, my hosting fees, would be outrageous. That may be the case for some people.
As of right now, I have over 80 domains up and running under one hosting account, guess how much I pay?
I pay only $13.49 per month for the hosting. The same price, for a good meal at a restaurant these days. If I had less domain names, I could pay around $5.94 per month, about the same price as a meal from Burger King. So we are not talking about back breaking prices here.
You may be surprised to know, that I am using Godaddy as my host. The current plan that I am using is the Premium Plan running a Linux based server, normal pricing for the premium plan, Linux based server is $14.99 per month, but since I have paid for 2 years in advance I paid at a rate of $13.49 per month. Even though I have paid in advanced, Godaddy is flexible enough, that If I wanted to cancel with godaddy, they would fully reimburse me of my money without any penalty fees for canceling. So It is a good idea to pay for advance, especially with the savings.
Still though, a lot of people, don’t know how to utilize the function of adding multiple domains to be hosted under the same account in Godaddy. How do I know that not a lot people don’t know how to do this? Well, I don’t remember what I called in for, but about a year ago, when I called godaddy technical support, the tech support rep was surprised at my knowledge, and acknowledged to me that he does not get a chance to speak to people who know what they are doing, and told me that not many people know they can add more than 1 domains under hosting on the same account for godaddy.
How to add another domain in Godaddy under one hosting account
First of all, there are a few ways to achieve this, but you need to have a Linux based server. Anyways, on to the instructions.
1. After you have signed in to godaddy, hover your mouse over, Hosting & Servers, select “My Hosting Account”.

2. At this point, you will see one or more of the hosting accounts that you have purchased from godaddy. Pick the one you want to work with, and click to open it.
3. Hover your mouse over settings, and select domain management. This will be the panel where you add all your domains, so pay close attention, so you don’t make any mistakes.

4. We are now in the domain management section, Under the “Assign Domain to Hosting Site”, select your domain, once you have selected your domain, you will need to choose your “Domain Hosting Path”, you will want to select “enter directory path”.

5. In the domain hosting path area, you will want to type a name, that is familiar to the domain name, so perhaps if your domain name is mydomainname.com then it would be a good idea to type in ‘/mydomainname’. After you have typed your desired folder path, you will then click add, and wait a few seconds for it to finish adding it.
6. When you login in your ftp server, you will now see a folder called ‘mydomainname’, anything uploaded to that folder is your mydomainname.com website.
If you have any questions on this process, you are always welcome to leave a comment in this post, and I will be glad to reply. Or alternatively, you can always call up godaddy support, they are open 24/7, and usually are very helpful.
One way to remember a list of things is to use a mnemonic (memory) device. There are several ways to do this.
1) Make an acronym.
If you have a list of things to remember, use their first letters to make a word–or a pseudo-word.
For example, FACE gives you the names of the notes between the lines on a musical staff.
Some medical care providers use CAGE for alcohol-use screening:
1. Have you ever felt it necessary to CUT DOWN on your drinking?
2. Has anyone ever told you they were ANNOYED by your drinking?
3. Have you ever felt GUILTY about your drinking?
4. Have you ever felt the need to have a drink in the morning for an EYE OPENER?An Economics example is TANSTAAFL: There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.
2) Create a sentence from the first letters of the things in your list.
For example, to remember the (formerly) nine planets in order from the sun (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto): My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles. Or: My very excellent memory just served up nine planets.
Another that is widely used is “Every Good Boy Deserves Favor” for the musical notes that go on the lines in the music staff.
Tips on mnemonics:
The goal is to make it memorable. How to do this?
- Make it rhyme.
- Make it musical. You learned the alphabet by learning that little song that you still do when you’re reciting the alphabet.
- Make it funny/surprising. (In the “planets” sentence, what would be better than pickles?)
- Use a pun.
- Create a vivid, graphic and/or improbable image that jolts the mind. (The Pope riding a jet ski?)
- Perhaps use something shocking! Some of the best-known mnemonics in medicine are quite bawdy or refer to bodily functions/excretions.
- Keep it simple/short. It shouldn’t be more complicated to remember than the list itself!
By the way, Mnemosyne was the Greek goddess of memory, Her namesake, mnemonics (pronounced ni-MON-iks), simply means “memory aid”.
